Kenyan Premier League (KPL) has opened investigation into the gun drama incident at Kericho Green Stadium on Sunday 16th September during the game pitting hosts Zoo FC and Bandari FC.

Towards the of the clash, which produced a 1 – 1 draw, a person alleged to be a Zoo FC fans is said to have drawn a pistol during a scuffle, a matter that has left KPL and the match organizers in bad light.

KPL, in a statement, termed the incident sad and called for calm as investigations proceed while they indicated that the police may be drawn into the matter to help with the investigations.

Kenyan Premier League wishes to inform stakeholders and the general public that it has launched investigations into an unfortunate incident involving a person alleged to be a law enforcing officer and players of Bandari Football Club which happened at the Green Stadium, Kericho on Sunday, September 16, 2018 after the Zoo vs Bandari SPL 2018 Round 30 match.

As we proceed with our review of the circumstances which led to the occurrence of this regrettably sad incident, we assure stakeholders and the general public that we remain steadfast in ensuring safety and security of players, match officials, technical bench officials, and match-going fans during matches played in various venues across the country.

KPL will verify the facts of the incident and apply the relevant rules firmly and fairly in order to preserve the integrity of the game.

In addition to that, we will write to the Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service to look into the matter further with the aim of ensuring that this does not happen again as all licensed gun-holders are under his jurisdiction
